Vì “Necessary” là một tính từ, nên khi viết câu sẽ có cấu trúc như sau:
Subject + Verb-infinitive + necessary + Object
Necessary dùng khi nói đến sự cần thiết để đạt một kết quả cụ thể.
Ví dụ:
- • Jack lacks the necessary skills for his job. (Jack thiếu kỹ năng cần thiết cho công việc của anh ấy).
- • I don’t have much time so I won’t be staying any longer than necessary. (Tôi không có nhiều thời gian vì thế tôi sẽ không ở lại lâu quá hơn thời gian cần thiết).
- • You just do what’s necessary and then leave. (Bạn chỉ cần làm những điều cần thiết sau đó rời đi).

CẤU TRÚC VÀ CÁCH DÙNG IT IS NECESSARIES – CẤU TRÚC GIẢ ĐỊNH
Một số các tính từ đòi hỏi mệnh đề sau nó phải ở dạng giả định, trong câu bắt buộc phải có that và động từ sau chủ ngữ phụ (chủ ngữ 2) ở dạng Verb infinitive nguyên thể không “to”: advised, necessary, recommended, urgent, important, obligatory, required, imperative, mandatory, proposed, suggested…. It is necessary là một trong số đó.
Cấu trúc:
It is Necessary + to + [Verb in simple form]
It is Necessary + that + S + [Verb in simple form]
(Đó là điều cần thiết để ai đó làm gì)
Nếu muốn cấu tạo phủ định đặt not sau chủ ngữ 2 trước nguyên thể bỏ to.
- • It is necessary that he find the books. (Đó là điều cần thiết để anh ấy tìm cuốn sách)
- • It is necessary that we change the topic. (Điều cần thiết là chúng ta phải thay đổi chut đề)
Nếu bỏ that đi thì chủ ngữ 2 sẽ biến thành tân ngữ sau giới từ for, động từ trở về dạng nguyên thể có to và câu mất tính chất giả định trở thành dạng mệnh lệnh thức gián tiếp.
Ví dụ:
- • It is necessary to have high level of proficiency in Vietnammese before they will consider me for a job in the hanoi office. (Cần phải có trình độ cao về tiếng Việt trước khi họ xem xét tôi làm việc tại văn phòng Hà Nội.)
- • It is necessary to have good grades in science courses to enrol in the Medical School. (Cần có điểm số tốt trong các môn khoa học để ghi danh vào trường Y.)\
